Talking to spirits

First published in Daily Tribune under Anthony Vivero's Vibes and Vision dated February 16, 2009.

The Spirit is made with a special purpose. It is such an important creation that if not properly handled, it could yield negative results. It was never created for senseless or trivial communication.

Talking to spirits is a common practice among many believers of the paranormal. Unfortunately, many don’t know the proper way to deal with these entities. They unceremoniously make contact with them for the most senseless, trivial and mundane reasons. Instead of establishing a solemn and deep spiritual connection with the spirit of the Divine through heartfelt prayers and deep meditation, they inadvertently tap or summon negative/fun-loving spirits and suffer from their deceiving capabilities. It is better to arm oneself with knowledge first before delving on such matters.

Common methods used in spirit communication

1. Ouija Board and Spirit-of-the-Glass. One uses a chart with the alphabet and numbers written on it. A drinking glass or a piece of crystal is used to trap a spirit, which is then summoned or invited in for communication and conversation.

2. Spirit of the Coin. The process is the same as with the Ouija Board or Spirit-of-the-Glass, but instead a coin is used to communicate.

3. Mediumship/Chanelling. This is done through a “sensitive” or psychic individual capable of hosting a spirit entity through his body and mediate or channel information in an oral conversational method. Many groups with religious leanings and several cult organizations use this method of spirit communication. A good example would be “speaking in tongues,” where the host is in a trance while speaking unknown languages or making unintelligible sounds.

4. Seance. This is a group of people calling the spirit of the dead to communicate with the living, in any manner the spirit is capable of, or through a host in the seance group who is capable of channeling verbally or physically.

5. Automatic writing. A medium or psychic capable of hosting a spirit through his body communicates through writing. Once the host is in a trance state, messages are given by the spirit while the host writes the messages being received. Questions can and may be asked by anyone in the session, after which responses received by the host are actually written down.

6. Pen and Letter Tiles. This is one of the hardest methods of communication. In a vacant room, one leaves a question written on a piece of paper. A pen and paper or letter-tiles (eg., Scrabble tiles) are left inside with the written question to wait and hope that a spirit will reply by either writing the answer on the paper or by rearranging the letter-tiles.

7. Tarot card or other divination card or stone. Many use the tarot cards to communicate with the spirits. Others use either a stone or wooden stick to communicate. Those who are capable of using this method have a unique way of interpreting the messages of the spirits.

Dangers

1. Deception. It is a common occurrence in spirit communication that “lower” entities or spirits deceive people who wish to communicate with them. Spirit entities are capable of pretending to be the higher being or divine or the exact spirit with which the seeker wishes to communicate. They fool and manipulate people into believing that they are who they pretend to be, and the seeker would naturally accept messages given by these entities whether they are truthful or not. Most times they play around with the seekers and enjoy this habit of pretense very much. The seeker, on the other hand, has no inkling at all of the deception, not having learned to discern or sense the negative or unusual vibration of the spirit, as well as the level of depth of the messages given and shared by the spirit. Higher or divine spirits do not give messages of earthly nature, much more mundane, whimsical, personal messages and instructions.

2. Possession. Hosts that do not know the whole and correct process of spirit communication are risking and endangering themselves. This ritual of spirit communication could cost the host’s physical health, mental stability, emotional balance and, in the worst case scenario, complete body possession.

3. Ego. Many mediums believe that because of their ability to psychically communicate, they are more powerful than others. In reality, possessing this ability is a big responsibility, not only to the living but also to those who do not physically exist. This is a thankless job, and an arrogant attitude is the medium’s biggest mistake.

4. Wrong interpretation. There are many seekers and mediums who interpret messages based on their selfish motives and desires. A very good example would be messages spoken through “tongues” where messages are given in very unusual languages and sounds. As if the God or the spirits are so dumb that they cannot communicate in a “language” that is known to man!

5. Ailment. An energy that cannot be explained is received either as a powerful or sudden surge of energy and can destroy organs within the solar plexus. Known mediums have suffered from organ failures in the abdominal area, in the kidney, liver, pancreas and intestines.

Always remember

Cleansing. This is the most important process that many spirit communicators fail to do when conducting spirit communication sessions. I have spoken to so many sensitives/mediums and found that many do not cleanse themselves after such a session. Most do not know how and were never taught even the basics. Cleansing releases and removes the attachment of the entity or the spirit that was present during the session. The cleansing process is to be treated with sacredness and secrecy. It is a detailed process too long for this article, but if you are truly interested to learn it, you may contact me for advice and guidance, free of charge.

Motive. The purer the motive, the better. If one wants to talk to spirit just to say “hi” or “hello,” it is advisable not to. Our intention is the best reason for having a positive and successful communication. Do not be deceived by church organized spirit communication sessions or rituals as absolutely right, proper and always positive. The Holy Spirit knows everything. If the message has to be given, it is something that is to be understood by the receiver and the listener. Then again, I’ve seen a lot of people who join church groups who are into speaking in tongues and have considered this “revelation” as “big deal,” and thus follow blindly. A feather in the cap for the medium, regardless of the messages being unknown and un-interpreted for anyone to comprehend. If no one can understand the language/ sound then, no one in his right mind can or will interpret it. The messages remain as they were, unknown and obscure.

Divine Spirits. As a sacred rule, the Divine Spirits are not to be called. Spirits will come if the message and instructions are meant for you. No one in this planet can call upon the Divine to have a chat at his own will. Isn’t it absurd for a mortal to call a Higher Being at will? Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Lower spirits always play this of kind deception? And they do have good fun! So beware!

Messages of the Divine are meant for all, all the time and in all places and realms.
