People are often blinded by the mystical powers of a person who claims to have the ability to perform miracles. Many of the self-proclaimed miracle-makers practice and perform superficial maneuverings for public demonstration and enchantment. But what do we really get out of these? Do these public demonstrations of power do our lives good or make it better? Do they turn us into blind followers and believers of what we perceive as miracles from God?
STORIES OF TRUE MIRACLES
VIRGIE ‘Bhabes’ TARUN
Wilfred and Bhabes, like any young couple, dreamt of having a child after their wedding. Prior to their marriage, Wilfred was operated on his reproductive organ, after which the doctor told him that he might not be capable of having children. Only if he acquired medical assistance would he have a chance to father a child. Bhabes, for her part, had been earlier diagnosed as having unhealthy ovaries.
Not losing hope, for seven years they tried and experimented on all kinds of aids, medically and scientifically, to have a child. Pregnancy would come, but get terminated within a couple of weeks. After several attempts, they sought other options and were told of an alternative way — the spiritual way. They had tried all possible means to realize that dream of having a child of their own, and were defeated, so now they finally surrendered themselves to God for the miracle. Initially, it seemed, the dream would remain a dream. Another three years passed and nothing happened.
Not losing hope, but willing to accept their fate, they decided to serve the people for their entire life in a healing mission. But they knew in their hearts that miracles happen in the most unexpected moments.
After several months, Bhabes got pregnant again. The doctors were amazed. She was advised to have complete bed rest because of her delicate ovarian condition.
Now pregnant and very happy indeed, Bhabes did not forget her promise to serve the people in the healing mission. Her pregnancy didn’t stop her from continuing her work in the mission. Cooking is her expertise, so she does the cooking to feed the people/patients and other volunteers during healing sessions and other activities.
But another trial came. Maybe she really needed that bed rest for she suffered severe bleeding. There was danger of a miscarriage. Confidently, Bhabes and Wilfred hung on to their faith, and believed firmly that if it is God’s miracle, then the baby will hang on to live. Days of furious bleeding didn’t stop the couple in believing in their miracle becoming reality. Eventually, the bleeding stopped. Bhabes was well again, but this time she took everything slowly, rested more, though she did not stop completely. She just became extra careful and acutely aware of her condition.
After several more months, Bhabes finally delivered a healthy baby boy. Contrary to the doctor’s prognosis of a caesarian birth, the baby came out via normal delivery.
The story of Wilfred and Bhabes is one story of a strong faith and belief in the miracle of God.
ANTONIO JAVIER
Tony suffered from severe pneumonia which later developed into lung cancer. He was dying and had no money for any kind of medication. So he decided to hang on to his faith alone. He asked for prayers and healing from a mission group. He never failed to drop by for healing and prayers to the healing sessions on a regular basis. He joined in most of its projects and other activities, to the best of his ability.
Almost 10 years have passed and Mang Tony is still alive and well. He has devoted himself to helping other people by joining the mission. His sickness before and good health today is a huge testament of God’s miracle.
MY OWN MIRACLE
I have been doing psychic healing for almost eight years now in BF Homes, Paranaque City. I heal and pray for all kinds of people, from the moneyed to the poorest, treating and healing their various illnesses and problems, from cancer to ordinary domestic problems. People don’t know that I have my own set of problems, most especially in the performance of my healing mission.
Two years ago, without the people’s knowledge, we were about to be evicted by the owner of the lot we were using for the healing mission. The owner who was abroad allowed us the use of his vacant lot, temporarily, as there are normally several hundred patients who come to the healing sessions, of which my own house (including the garage, and most times, the street, could not accommodate comfortably). Having had temporary improvements made at the lot, it did cost us a good amount of money to make it comfortable for the sick and ailing people.
I was informed by the caretaker that there was a prospective buyer and that we had to move out of the property at the soonest time. After several requests to remain there, a bit longer and after several visits by prospective buyers, I was finally offered to buy the property, but with a deadline. The money wasn’t there to purchase the property, deadline or no deadline.
Two days before deadline day, the money to buy it remained a puzzle. Slowly, my volunteers and I decided to move all movable items and knock down some parts we had erected there. It was rather puzzling, as we could not remove a single bolt or a single stone slab we had placed there. We all still believed that God would provide the money to buy the lot and would settle everything right.
It was a Saturday night and the deadline was Monday. I spent the whole night that day praying, thanking God for everything He had given me and asking for help regarding the healing center. I held on to my belief that God would make way for us to have a place for the patients and believers. With tears in my eyes and the flame of hope in my heart, I believed that God would provide.
Early morning of Sunday, the miracle came. I not only had the money for the purchase of the lot, but also a little extra to build the concrete structure!
Many asked how everything just fell into place. I can only say, that it is God’s gift. A miracle in its true form! If only one believes, even at the last minute of a trial, when everything is next to impossible, God’s miracle is possible.
Miracles are for everyone who believe in it. It is given straight by God to you. Though God uses instruments on earth for a miracle to be achieved, it is not entirely in the hands of the instrument. One must pass trials to the last, to the very end. Believe, and the miracle will be yours.
Miracles break what is impossible to man.
